You should have received an introductory email with the subject line “2020 Somalia MP - Mobile Voting Pilot” from “Voatz Team” (sender email address: info@voatz.com). It was sent to the email address you completed the registration process with.
The email contains the following information:
Please download the app and complete the credentialing process at your earliest convenience; this will ensure that you are ready to receive your ballot when the voting window opens.
If you haven’t received the email yet, please check your spam, junk, and/or trash folders (and if you have Gmail, a folder called “Updates”), to make sure it didn’t end up there. If you’re still unable to find it, contact the Voatz help desk for assistance. Ask them to confirm that you’re on the eligible voter list and that they have the correct email address.
Search for “Voatz” in your phone’s app store, or:
The Voatz app is supported on:
If your phone is using an earlier operating system, please upgrade your phone to the latest version, or complete the Request a Paper Ballot form to submit your vote(s) by mail.
Please note, the Voatz app is not supported on Android tablets; however, it is supported on an iPad 3 or newer, but it must have a cellular connection capable of receiving SMS messages.
We use this to verify that you are an eligible voter for this year’s pilot election and email your voter ID once voting begins. Please note that this pilot election is not an official election but a voting exercise organized by DJ Consulting.
Yes, this is a required step if you wish to vote via mobile phone app.
Our voter guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you download the Voatz app and create an account. Help is also available in the app by tapping the Help button in the top right corner of most screens.
If you previously created an account in the Voatz app, you must use the same email address you used at that time. If this email address is no longer available to you, contact the Voatz help desk for assistance. Be sure to include your full name, the email address you previously used, and the new email address you would like to use.
An SMS (text) notification will temporarily display at the top of your screen, but if you miss it, you can still retrieve it:
Please tap the request new code button to receive a new SMS registration code. It may take a few minutes to receive it, and when you do, check to make sure you enter all 6 digits correctly. Then you’ll be able to tap the Next button to continue creating an account.
First, double check your Voter ID to make sure you entered it correctly. It might be helpful to write it down or view it on a different device. Please also be careful to distinguish between the number “0” and the letter “O”.
If you’re sure your Voter ID is correct, there might be a mismatch with the information that appears on the voter registration list. Contact the Voatz Help Desk for assistance.
After entering your Voter ID, you should be verified immediately. If you see a “pending” status, you may have entered your Voter ID incorrectly. Contact the Voatz Help Desk for assistance. Be sure to include your full name, mobile number and the email address you used to create an account with Voatz.
Candidates will collect signatures leading up to the election. You will receive a petition in the Voatz app, which you can review and sign to submit your endorsement for a particular candidate or effort.
If your phone is not compatible with the Voatz app, complete this form before the end of the petitioning period to receive your petition(s) via email.
If you review the petition and decide you don't want to sign it, you can exit by tapping the Exit button in the upper left corner. You will still be able to access and sign the petition at any time before the deadline.
Once you are verified in the Voatz app, fill out the required information below the petition text. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and use your finger to sign within the gray signature box where it says "SIGN HERE". When you're finished, tap Next.
You'll confirm one last time that you're ready to submit your petition. Then, you'll need to provide your biometric key (fingerprint or face ID) or Voatz PIN, which will submit your petition. Once the petition has been submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email that your signature has been received.
When your ballot is available, you will see a red circle next to Elections on the home screen. Tap on Elections to view your ballot and vote.
If you don’t see a red circle next to Elections, tap the “refresh” icon (a circular arrow icon) located to the right of your name on the home screen. A red circle should appear next to Elections, and you can tap to view your ballot and vote.
If you still don’t see a red circle next to Elections, contact the Voatz help desk for assistance.
Your ballot receipt is sent to the email address you entered when you created an account. The email subject line is “Your Official Ballot Receipt” (sender email address: info@voatz.com). If you haven’t received the email, please check your spam, junk, and/or trash folder to make sure it didn’t end up there.
If you’re not sure what email address you used to create an account, go to the Voatz app home screen and tap Verifications, then tap Device. Press and hold the box to view the email address associated with your account.
From the Voatz home screen, tap on Options, then tap on Ballot Receipt Password. Press and hold the box to view your password. It might be helpful to write it down so you can easily enter it when you return to your email to view your receipt.
Voatz accessibility features enable voters with visual, auditory and/or dexterity impairment to vote securely and independently from their smartphones. VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) screenreaders and Voice Control (iOS) are two of the many assistive capabilities available in the app.
